Homestead Benefit. This program provides Property Tax relief to eligible homeowners. To qualify, you must meet all the eligibility requirements (see below).

Homeowners
Homestead Benefit packets were mailed over a three-week period beginning in September 2017 (View Expected Delivery Dates).

Eligible homeowners can expect to receive their 2015 Homestead Benefit property tax relief beginning around May 1, 2018.  Most homeowners will receive the relief in the form of a credit on their second-quarter property tax bill.

Eligible seniors and disabled residents can expect to see a property tax reduction of approximately $259.  All other eligible homeowners will receive an estimated $202.

Homeowners who earn up to $75,000 and meet all other criteria are eligible for the Homestead Benefit.  Senior, blind, and disabled homeowners under 65 who earn as much as $150,000 receive the benefit as well.

This year’s Homestead Benefit is based on the $156 million appropriation that was included in the FY 2018 budget signed into law by Gov. Christie in July, 2017.

Tenants
Tenants will not receive rebates of 2015 taxes.
